Westdale Memo to Residents about Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Updated June 17, 2020
Your safety, health and well-being are of the utmost importance to us. We understand that there are concerns around COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and we want to assure you that we are doing all that we can to protect our residents and employees and prevent the spread of the disease. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) is closely monitoring respiratory illnesses associated with COVID-19. You can follow their status and recommendations from the CDC website.
In an effort to mitigate concerns, the following are suggestions to preventing the spread of any illness, up to and including the COVID-19.
Recommendations for you to Stay Healthy
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then dispose of the tissue.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched points.
- Stay home when you are sick and check with health care provider.
Westdale Property Management Measures Taken
- Select leasing offices have been closed to the public. Management staff will still be available via email and phone.
- Select leasing offices will be open for in-person tours by appointment only.
- In compliance with Federal, State and Local requirements, select apartment communities have reopened some or all of their amenities.
- All employees have received communication on infection prevention and have been instructed to stay home if ill.
- Daily cleaning protocols with an emphasis on “touch points,” public areas, and amenities that more than one person may touch and have increased cleaning frequencies and use of disinfectants where appropriate.
- All building ventilation is in full working order.
- Management sponsored resident events has been suspended until further notice.
- With the exception of USPS packages, select leasing offices may no longer accept resident packages at this time. Residents who currently have packages in the office will be contacted directly to make arrangements to get these packages to them. Delivery drivers are requested to deliver packages to resident doorsteps.
Resident Considerations
- When service requests are received or an office visit is requested, the office staff will need to verify whether someone in the unit is ill or has returned within the last two weeks from a country that has a CDC Level 3 Travel Health Notice. You can review current CDC travel warnings on the CDC website. Once an emergency request/office visit request has been received, a Westdale team member will ask the following questions by phone prior to performing the emergency service/prior to your visit:
- Has anyone in your apartment returned from any countries on the CDC's Level 3 Travel Health Notice List in the last two weeks?
- Has anyone in your apartment been experiencing any Acute Respiratory Illness symptoms in the last two weeks?
- In the event of a maintenance request needs to be performed, staff will: (1) wear a mask and gloves while in the unit and dispose of gloves and mask immediately after work is completed, (2) wash hands in soap and water immediately after work is completed or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- If a resident is ill or has returned within the last two weeks from a CDC Level 3 country, they may contact the office by phone during regular office hours, view their ledger, create service requests or pay rent by accessing the Resident Portal at http://www.westdaleresidents.com. If you have not created a Resident Portal account, please contact your office to retrieve your Registration Code.
- If we are notified of a confirmed case of COVID-19 on property, the health department and all residents will be notified by email, by phone from 844-747-7770, and/or by text (if resident is opted-in to receive texts through the Resident Portal).
- Please learn more about the virus here: CDC Factsheet.
We are committed to providing you a clean and safe community and as always, are here to assist you with any questions or comments.
Thank you.
