VacationWestdale grants paid vacations to all full-time employees after 90 days of continuous service as follows:

Westdale provides personal/sicktime to all full-time employees after the completion of 90 days of service. Fulltime employees accrue personal/sicktime at the rate of five days annually or 1.54 hours bi-weekly. Personal/sicktime is not accrued during periods of leave of absence and cannot be taken before it is accrued.
HolidaysWestdale provides paid time off to all full-time employees on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (2), Christmas (2), Birthday.
There is no waiting period to be eligible to receive holiday pay. Part-time/temporary employees are not eligible for holiday pay.
Medical Insurance Benefits
All full-time regular employees are eligible to participate in Westdale’s medical insurance plans. Eligible dependents include your spouse and unmarried children from birth to the limiting age of 26 years. If elected, coverage is effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Our medical plan is a PPO and is administered by United HealthCare.
Dental Insurance Benefits
All full-time employees are eligible to participate in Westdale’s dental insurance plan. Eligible dependents include your spouse and unmarried children from birth to the limiting age of 26 years. If elected, coverage is effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment. Coverage is provided through CIGNA and includes a vision discount plan.
Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability
Life insurance (1x annual salary plus $10,000) and Short-Term and Long Term Disability insurance are provided to all fulltime employees without charge. Coverage is effective the first of the month on or after sixty days of employment. Coverage is through CIGNA.
Supplemental Life Insurance and Dependent Life Insurance
Westdale offers additional supplemental life insurance for its full-time employees and their dependents at a reduced group rate through CIGNA. Employees are eligible for this insurance the first of the month on or after sixty days of continuous full-time service. During this initial eligibility period, coverage amounts of up to $50,000 for employee and $20,000 for employee’s spouse are guaranteed issue (completion of a Statement of Health form is not required). If you want coverage for your spouse and/or children, you must elect supplemental life coverage for yourself as well.
After completing 11 months of service, you will be eligible to participate in Westdale’s 401(k) plan at the next plan entry date. (Plan entry dates are January 1 and July 1 of each year.) You must be 18 years of age to participate. You may contribute up to IRS maximums and the company matches 50% of your contributions up to a maximum of 3%. Employer contributions are vested according to a six-year vesting schedule.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Fulltime employees that have completed two full years of service will be eligible to participate in Flexible Spending Accounts as of the entry date which is January 1 of each year. FSAs allow you to pay certain health and dependent day care expenses tax free.
There are two types of Spending Accounts:
- Health Care Spending Account – helps you pay health care expenses that are not covered by insurance, such as copayments for doctor’s visits and prescription drugs, out-of-pocket expenses for dental care, LASIK surgery and contact lenses, etc. You can use your FSA to pay eligible expenses for you or anyone you claim as a dependent for tax purposes, even if they are not enrolled in the Westdale benefit plans. Maximum contribution is $2,500 per year.
- Dependent Care Spending Account – helps you pay for dependent day care expenses that enable you (and your spouse, if married) to work. You can claim eligible day care expenses for a child under age 13, or a relative of any age who is unable to care for themselves and who depends on you for support. Maximum contribution is $5,000 per year ($2,500 if you are married and filing separate tax returns), as long as your contribution does not exceed the lesser of your income or your spouses’s income.
Westdale recognizes the value of loyal service by it employees. As an expression of appreciation, a service gift is presented to employees who complete one year of continuous service. Thereafter, awards are given in five-year increments (i.e. five, ten, etc.).
Westdale is a member of the Neighborhood Credit Union. All employees and their families are eligible for Neighborhood Credit Union membership regardless of the state in which they reside. Full-time employees will be eligible for tuition reimbursement of up to 75% of the fees for tuition and registration for work related courses up to a maximum of $250.00 per year. Property employees must receive prior approval from their manager and Regional Director or before any training begins, provide evidence of completion of training, and proof of a passing score to be eligible. Corporate employees must have approval from their manager before any training begins and provide the same evidence as noted above to be eligible.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides employees and their immediate family members with telephonic consultation, in-person assistance, and online access to services and information on a variety of work and life issues.
Apartment Rental Discount
All employees are eligible to receive a discount off the rental rate in effect for any apartment home at an apartment community managed by Westdale Asset Management provided you meet all criteria established for residency and sign a lease agreement and any other applicable addenda.
